The Texas oil money behind Proposition 23 is widely known by now. But there’s been less publicity about Big Oil–specifically Chevron–putting $4 million into passing Proposition 26, according to a nifty interactive chart just released by OilChange International.
Proposition 26, according to opponents, would relieve big corporations of having to pay fees to clean up their pollution or mitigate the health consequences. $4 million would be a pittance next to what Chevron would save by sticking taxpayers, instead of its shareholders, with its cleanup bills.
Don’t these corporations have mothers to tell them to clean up their own messes?
