2015 Rage for Justice Awards

The 2015 Rage For Justice Awards were held Saturday, June 6 at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, in Beverly Hills, CA.

This years honorees included Senator Al Franken – from privacy in the digital space, to justice in the courtroom, to affordable health care Senator Franken is truly passionate about the defense of consumer rights ; Bruce Brusavich –  Bruce's tireless crusade, inside and outside the courtroom, to protect injured patients echoes Burton's relentless advocacy for the downtrodden ;  and Tammy and Tim Smick – Following the death of their 20-year-old son due to medical negligence, Tammy and Tim Smick have campaigned across California for tougher patient safety laws, like the one to rein in overprescribing the California Senate advanced last month.

Consumer Watchdog hosts the Rage for Justice Awards to honor the heroes and heroines of the public interest movement. The awards are named after Congressman Phillip Burton, one of the most productive and driven progressive legislators in American history. His story is told in John Jacobs’ acclaimed book A Rage for Justice.
